COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Nothing cries out more tenderly and sometimes tragically for the chaplain than death.  Where is the chaplain?  Does the chaplain have a word from the Lord?  Death provides an opportunity to share spiritual truths from God’s Word.  As Chaplains, God gives us the opportunity to minister to those who are struggling with broken hearts.  We must understand the grief process if we are to bear the sorrows of people who are experiencing loss through death.  What do we say to the parents of a teenager who died from suicide, or whose child drowned in the family swimming pool, or whose loved one was killed in a traffic accident, or murdered?  What do we say to the spouse of 50 years who suddenly became a widow or widower?  As difficult as these moments are, God has called you, the chaplain, to come alongside them and be the hands and feet of Jesus, and at times His mouthpiece.  Often, we are His mouthpiece as we are asked to officiate the funeral or memorial service for their loved one.  What a tremendous opportunity God gives us to represent Him.  Are you prepared for that opportunity?  If not, Lord willing, this class will help to prepare you.
