Chaplain Lynne writes:
Our Chaplain role is to nudge people who are in despair… ever so gently, towards hope.
With your deep well of peace, gentleness, love, attention, empathy and compassion, you gently turn people to hope.
Your hope filled service, of quiet attention to them personally, brings clarity to the confusion. You become a safe pocket of peace, from the chaos their world has become.
Your presence speaks hope in the despair. That hope you live in the midst of trouble, speaks of your faith in ways words can not reach.
Many church-goers would wish to use a time of engagement to solely evangelize with words…
Yet as Chaplains, we are focused on sitting with the suffering in the midst of their trials. Meeting a deep immediate need… no matter what their beliefs (as contrary to ours they may be), level of faith in Jesus (or lack thereof), we are there to journey alongside them in the midst of their struggle.
As a Chaplain, your presence challenges the loneliness, the trauma evokes.
This speaks boldly to a hurting person, of the character of who we follow. It speaks of our hope
God doesn’t really ask us to fix things in others, only to notice those in pain and who are lowly in heart. Like the Good Samaritan, to stop our journey for a moment, to simply join theirs and diligently meet their needs. Heaven surrounds that intersection, as you stand in union with them. That unity can eventually open the door for words… words of hope.
We at Living Shield Ministries recognize that you, as a Chaplain, are on your own journey, in the midst of your service to others. Our courses encourage Chaplains to be aware of their personal needs and challenges in service.
It’s easy to “hide in the crowd” of those you serve who need God’s support. As Chaplains, we need to push through the crowd, so to speak… to meet Him face to face and seek His hand in the midst of our faith journey. It is our responsibility to turn our needs over to our Faith foundation and seek His counsel regularly. It can be lonely in a crowd of need.
We desire to support you.
So we ask you today,
“How can we, your fellow Chaplains, pray for you?” (please click here to go to comments to add prayer request)
Blessings, Chaplain Lynne
